Gazette Notice 2505/17
An Extraordinary Gazette notification was issued by the Sri Lankan government on September 07, 2026. This official announcement concerns local government administration under the Local Authorities Elections Ordinance.
The notice addresses a vacant seat in the Kotikawatta Mulleriyawa Pradeshiya Sabha. The vacancy occurred after the previously returned member, Mr. Abdul Raheem Mohamed Mudassir, ceased to be a member of his political party.
Following established election laws, the Secretary of the United Peace Alliance nominated a qualified candidate within the mandated thirty-day window. The party selected Mr. Mohamed Faizar Mohamed Rilwan to fill the open council seat.
Consequently, Returning Officer Pakkiyarajah Ragunathan officially declared Mr. Mohamed Faizar Mohamed Rilwan elected to the Kotikawatta Mulleriyawa Pradeshiya Sabha under section 66A(1)(b) of the Ordinance.
