Role Overview & Summary

As the Assistant Manager – Finance & Operations, you will act as a core pillar of our administrative and financial management structure. This position demands a strategic thinker who is equally comfortable handling day-to-day accounting, inventory controls, statutory tax filings, and comprehensive business budgeting. You will work closely with upper management to ensure financial transparency, strengthen internal controls, and deliver timely, data-driven financial insights that support our retail and manufacturing objectives.

Key Responsibilities & Daily Operations

• Financial Reporting: Oversee daily accounting functions, manage month-end closing processes, and prepare accurate management reporting packages.
• Statutory Compliance: Handle VAT, SSCL, corporate income tax, and other regulatory or statutory compliance requirements meticulously.
• Cost & Budget Control: Monitor operational costing, profit margins, corporate budgets, and cash flow structures to optimize organizational profitability.
• Supply Chain & Inventory Oversight: Oversee purchasing workflows, supplier payment processing, and comprehensive inventory and stores control systems.
• Financial Controls & Analysis: Strengthen internal financial controls and provide the management team with timely, actionable financial analysis.

Requirements

To qualify for this critical leadership role, applicants must meet the following educational, technical, and experiential criteria:

• Educational Background: Must possess a Degree or Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Professional Qualifications: Candidates who are part-qualified in CA Sri Lanka, CIMA, or ACCA are strongly preferred.
• Industry Experience: A minimum of 3 to 5 years of relevant professional experience, preferably gained within the FMCG, food manufacturing, retail, or distribution sectors.
• Tax & Audit Knowledge: Demonstrated sound knowledge of local taxation laws, auditing standards, and statutory compliance frameworks.
• Technical Proficiency: Advanced command of Microsoft Excel and enterprise resource planning (ERP) or accounting systems; prior exposure to Odoo is considered a distinct advantage.
• Soft Skills: Exceptional analytical aptitude, robust leadership qualities, and advanced problem-solving skills.
