Browns Agri Solutions (Pvt) Ltd, a prominent name and fully owned subsidiary under the umbrella of Brown & Company PLC, is currently looking for an experienced and driven professional to fill the role of Manager / Assistant Manager – Marketing & Strategic Support. If you have a deep-rooted background in the agricultural sector, commercial marketing, and strategic business growth, this role offers a fantastic platform to steer market development initiatives across Sri Lanka. Operating within a heavy-hitting corporate group with an extensive nationwide presence, this position involves bridging the gap between high-level business goals and practical on-the-ground farmer engagement.

Role Scope and Core Responsibilities

The person stepping into this position will take charge of designing, launching, and managing comprehensive marketing initiatives that directly align with the company’s broader operational objectives, growth targets, and evolving market opportunities. You won’t just be sitting behind a desk; the role requires active leadership across multiple product lines and market segments, providing sharp direction to the marketing team.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will cover a wide spectrum of corporate and field-level activities:

  • Strategy Execution: Develop and implement targeted marketing campaigns aimed at driving product adoption, strengthening brand presence, and continuously expanding market share.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work hand-in-hand with sales, technical, and commercial departments to spot emerging opportunities and roll out effective market development programs.

  • Product Positioning: Play a key role in product development planning, market positioning, and crafting go-to-market strategies tailored specifically around real farmer needs and shifting agricultural trends.

  • On-the-Ground Field Execution: Plan and organize grassroots farmer training programs, live field demonstrations, awareness campaigns, specialized dealer activities, and impactful BTL (Below-the-Line) promotions.

  • Digital and Content Presence: Elevate and manage the company’s digital footprint and social media channels through engaging content and strategic promotional campaigns.

  • Market Intelligence: Continuously monitor competitor moves, conduct thorough industry trend assessments, analyze market intelligence, and deliver practical, actionable recommendations straight to the management team.

  • Collateral Development: Coordinate the creation of point-of-sale (POS) materials, product communications, promotional literature, and necessary marketing collateral.

  • Performance Tracking: Monitor ongoing campaign effectiveness, compile detailed performance reports, and integrate feedback loops for continuous operational improvement.

  • Stakeholder Relations: Build and maintain strong, lasting relationships with an extensive network of dealers, distributors, farmers, industry stakeholders, and key business partners.

  • Compliance and Budgeting: Ensure every marketing initiative is delivered professionally, cost-effectively, and stays strictly within company policies and brand guidelines.

Candidate Qualifications and Professional Experience

To successfully handle the demands of this position, applicants must meet specific educational and professional benchmarks:

  • Educational Background: A Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Agriculture, Agricultural Science, or an equivalent qualification obtained from a recognized institution.

  • Added Advantages: Additional professional qualifications in Marketing, Business Management, Strategic Management, or a related discipline will be treated as a distinct advantage.

  • Industry Experience: A minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience, ideally rooted within the agro-input industry—covering areas such as agrochemicals, seeds, fertilizers, or related agricultural products.

  • Field Expertise: Hands-on exposure to rural agricultural marketing, BTL promotions, farmer engagement, field demonstrations, and market development will give candidates a major edge during the selection process.

  • Strategic Competencies: Prior practical experience handling marketing strategy development, competitor analysis, and digital/social media marketing will also serve as a strong supporting asset.
